Lisa Gilbert’s story is anything but ordinary. A San Diego native and mother of triplets, she spent her early years in foster care—separated from her twin at birth—before being adopted by a loving single mom. Growing up biracial in a world full of contradictions, Lisa used humor to cope. Today, it’s how she connects—with herself and others.
After 25 years as a youth advocate, Lisa found comedy—and, in many ways, herself—in retirement. Her stand-up blends sharp observation with lived-in wisdom, shaped by motherhood, identity, and the beautiful mess of real life. Whether on stage, leading workshops, or hosting events, Lisa brings wit, warmth, and a deep understanding of what it means to keep going.
She doesn’t pretend to have it all figured out—but she makes people feel like maybe they don’t need to either. Whether reflecting on faith, family, or the absurdity of adulthood, Lisa meets audiences exactly where they are—and reminds them they’re not alone.
When not touring, Lisa headlines regularly at her home club, Mic Drop Comedy in San Diego. She’s been featured in numerous comedy festivals, named one of the “Best Of” at the world-famous Comedy Store, released a Dry Bar Comedy special, and performs regularly with Don't Tell Comedy.
